Investors have completed the purchase of the 315
MW Brooklyn Navy Yard Cogeneration Plant from
Edison Mission Energy. Dean Vanech, president of
Delta, says the acquisition closed last month,
declining to reveal the price. Former bidders
estimated the Big Apple power plant could fetch
some $650 million (PFR, 2/8). Vanech says the
the initial focus for Delta will be to assure
that the power plant continues to operate
reliably and at its highest possible
availability. Kevin Kelley, spokesman for EME's
parent Edison International, and officials at
Credit Suisse First Boston, which brokered the
deal, did not return calls.
